About me and my practice
Giving a 'vocal' voice to what lies within us can be a powerful and life changing experience. Counselling can give you the space to explore your inner world thru speaking it. I also know that sometimes, what lies within, cannot be expressed by our vocal voice alone, but by one that talks thru movement, physical tension, chronic illness, sleepless nights, pain, this I call the Subtle Voice. Thru a combination of talking and somatic - body based - therapies, we can work together to access that which needs expression and release within You. In addition to the Integrative Approaches using Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Behavioural modalities, I can also offer guided somatic sessions to work with you when words alone won't suffice.
Experience
In addition to my Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, I am trained in Yoga, Craniosacral therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques, and Bodywork, to name a few. I came to talking therapies later in my adult life, after twenty plus years of working as a body based practitioner. Thru working with many people, as well as on myself, I came to realise that a combined approach, talking and body-based, could provide a holistic way of working with deeply held emotions. During the pandemic i took my private practice online, and was amazed at the results that a combined talking and somatic approach could have on my clients. As a Trauma Informed bodyworker I know how the body holds certain emotions, and how easily talking can re-trigger a person. Thru gently moving between talking and somatic awareness - your felt sense in your body - these 'stuck' emotions can be gently released.
I have worked with all ages from children to adults. I am a specialist mentor with secondary school age children with autism, as well as counselling children and young people from 12-25. I work with Neurodiverse and neurotypical clients. Understanding that a one size fits all approach doesn't work, i work collaboratively to find what works for You.

Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Level 2 Diploma in Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Professional Diploma in Hypnotherapy.
Various diplomas in body based therapies including Yoga; Sports Massage; Craniosacral therapy; Thai Bodywork.
