Making the decision to come to counselling is a valuable investment in yourself, creating an opportunity where we can work together towards positive change. As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I can provide support in a safe, warm, confidential, personal environment to encourage self-exploration, insight and awareness; working towards making sense of the difficulties and issues which may be causing emotional distress and anxiety.
About me and my practice
Every individual has a unique story, intricately connected to a larger context involving family and the wider world. Life's challenges can present themselves in various forms, often making it difficult to move forward.
My practice is here to help you navigate through fear, anger, anxiety, and stresswhether these emotions are affecting your relationship with yourself, your personal relationships, or friendships. If you are supporting or dealing with someone close to you who is projecting their struggles onto you, or if you are at a crossroads and struggling to find your path, the support provided can guide you toward clarity and healing.
Dedicated to supporting your journey, my practice focuses on helping you confront the challenges you want and need to address, at your own pace, one session at a time. With 12 years of experience in the substance misuse and addictions field, there is a deep understanding of the complex issues that can arise from alcohol or drug misuse, along with the profound impact it can have on individuals and their families. Experience working with both women and men on issues such as domestic abuse, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem further enriches the therapeutic approach offered.
Therapy sessions are available for adults aged 18 and over, offered in a variety of formats to suit your needswhether face-to-face, online, via telephone, or through walk-and-talk sessions in nature. A free phone consultation is provided before therapy begins to ensure the approach is tailored to your specific needs.
Flexibility in scheduling is a priority, with accommodations available outside of regular session hours whenever possible. Please feel free to inquire about any specific requirements.
Experience
Experience has been gained through years of dedicated work in various counselling settings. At a womens centre, direct involvement with individuals facing issues such as domestic carefully crafted violence, low self-esteem, addiction, anxiety, isolation, depression, and self-harming behaviour offered deep insights into these complex challenges.
Further experience was developed within a GP surgery, where a focus on helping patients manage depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and stress allowed for refining therapeutic approaches tailored to diverse needs.
The transition to private practice over the past three years has expanded this experience, allowing for a broader application of these skills and deepening the commitment to supporting clients through a range of lifes difficulties.
